Death of Isaac Galvez

The UCI is deeply saddened to be informed about the death of Isaac Galvez Lopez yesterday, following a fall in the Gand Six Days event in Belgium.
The talented Spanish rider was a member of the professional team, Caisse d’Epargne-Iles Balears (UCI ProTeam) since 2004.
Brilliant on the track, Isaac Galvez became, with his fellow countryman, Joan Llaneras, Madison World Champion at the UCI Track World Championships in Bordeaux, repeating the exploit already achieved in 1999. He also performed well on numerous occasions in the World Cup in the speciality, in team pursuit and in the madison.
Also an excellent road rider, he obtained good results in major international races. In particular this season he won a stage of the 4 Days of Dunkerque, the Trofeo Alcudia and the Trofeo Mallorca.
On behalf of the world cycling movement, the UCI wishes to share its sorrow with his family, friends, team members and his Federation, and to express to them its deepest sympathy.
